It has been a month since I have blogged. Incredible that time passes so quickly and so much has occurred. I have produced and promoted mma and kickboxing matches. Traveled to several states to teach seminars. Took fighters to the Arnold Classic to kickbox and do BJJ (and went undefeated). Had 7x world champion Robson Moura in to teach a seminar at my school and no matter how many times I train with him I still marvel at his movement and technical excellence. All this in addition to maintaining my training and teaching schedule and all relating to the fight game. During this time I also stood helplessly on the sidelines and watched as my mother fought for her life in the battle with cancer.
The moment one is diagnosed with cancer their life and the lives of their loved ones are changed. A fight for life with a very real and very scary killer begins. My mom is a fighter. She traveled to Birmingham, AL and had a very delicate surgery that could have had several bad outcomes but, thanks to a very skilled surgeon, came out successful. Three ribs and one third of her lung were removed which now makes her cancer free. She is in pain but progressing daily and feels blessed to have had the success she had with her surgery. Her experience has sharpened my passion for helping people find health and wellness in their lives. Self defense comes in many forms and being healthy is a great defense.
